Ram Raja Temple, Madhya Pradesh
Ram Raja Temple, Madhya Pradesh
As the sole temple in India where Lord Rama is worshipped as King Rama, the Ram Raja Temple, also known as the Orchha Temple, is significant from a religious standpoint. Hindus consider the temple, which was built in the 16th century and is located within the Orchha Fort complex, to be a sacred site.
It is thought that the building was once a fortification in the reign of Madhukar Shah, who converted it into the Rama Temple after Lord Rama asked him in a dream to erect his statue there.
Thousands of Rama devotees come to this temple on the auspicious day of Ram Navami to pray to Lord Rama. It’s interesting to note that in addition to being worshipped like a king in this place, gun salutes are also given as a sign of adoration and respect.
