The Legend :
It is thought that Lord Brahma was influenced by Lord Shiva’s sense of awe at having created the universe. As a result, Lord Shiva was angered and destroyed the fifth head of Lord Brahma. Lord Brahma journeyed across the globe to the temple of Lord Shiva in order to atone and free himself from this curse. He also went to Tiruchi and gave the shrine 12 Shiva lingas. Therefore, Lord Shiva appeared in front of Lord Brahma under the Magizha tree and freed him from his curse after being moved by his sincerity and Goddess Parvathi’s complaints. In the same temple, he bestowed a shrine on Lord Brahma as well.
